Terms & Conditions

The terms governing use of Dotnote, the install site, optional diagnostics, and deployments on your Cloudflare account.

Please read these Terms and Conditions ("Terms") carefully before using the Dotnote application deployed to your Cloudflare account, the install site at dotnote.cloud, optional diagnostics, and related documentation (together, the "Software") operated by Strum Technology Corp, a Delaware corporation doing business as Dotnote ("us", "we", or "our").

1. Acceptance of Terms

By installing, accessing, or using the Software, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the Terms, you may not use the Software. If you use the Software on behalf of an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization, and "you" refers to that organization.

2. Description of Software

Dotnote is a block-based markdown workspace that you deploy into your own Cloudflare account. After install:

  • Notes are stored as markdown files in your R2 bucket.
  • Workspace metadata, sessions, and optional LLM key storage use your D1 database on your account.
  • The owner account, including the password hash, lives in your D1 database.

We also operate the install site at dotnote.cloud, which helps you create the Worker, D1, and R2 resources via Cloudflare OAuth. The install site does not host your notes.

The Software may include:

  • The Dotnote web application (Workers + Static Assets)
  • Guided install and OAuth setup
  • Optional diagnostics registration, off until you opt in
  • Optional AI features using API keys you provide
  • Optional public share links for individual notes

3. Eligibility

You must be able to form a binding contract to use the Software. The Software is not intended for children under 13.

4. Your data and your Cloudflare account

You control the Cloudflare account where Dotnote is installed.

  • You are responsible for Cloudflare fees, quotas, security settings, and backups.
  • You are responsible for content you write, import, or share.
  • Share links you create may be accessed by anyone who has the URL until you revoke them.
  • Uninstalling or deleting resources in your account may permanently delete your notes unless you retain R2 backups.

We do not sync your notes to servers we operate for storage purposes.

5. Optional AI features

AI features are optional. If you enable them, you supply API keys for a provider you choose. Requests go from your Worker to that provider. We do not resell AI or guarantee model output accuracy.

Provider terms and privacy policies apply to data you send them. You are responsible for using AI in compliance with your obligations and for not sending regulated or confidential data to a provider without authorization.

6. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Software in violation of any law or others' rights
  • Use share links to distribute unlawful content
  • Attempt unauthorized access to Cloudflare, Dotnote, or third-party systems
  • Probe, disrupt, or overload the install site or diagnostics service except through ordinary use
  • Reverse engineer the Software except as allowed by law
  • Circumvent security or integrity checks on install or updates

7. Third-party services

The Software relies on Cloudflare (Workers, R2, D1, OAuth) and, if you enable AI, LLM providers you configure. Their terms apply. We are not responsible for outages, data loss, or policy changes by those providers.

8. Availability and changes

We aim to keep the install site and diagnostics service available but do not guarantee uninterrupted operation. We may change, suspend, or discontinue any part of the Software, including install flows or diagnostics, with notice where practicable.

You are responsible for maintaining your deployment and applying updates you choose to ship to your Worker.

9. Intellectual property

We and our licensors retain all rights in the Software, including the application code, website, trademarks, and documentation. These Terms grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to deploy and use Dotnote for your own purposes, subject to these Terms.

You retain all rights in the notes and content you create.

10. Fees

Dotnote software is provided without a separate notes subscription from us. Cloudflare and AI providers may charge you under their own pricing. Any future paid offerings from us will be described on the website at the time of purchase.

11. Termination

You may stop using the Software at any time by deleting your deployment. We may suspend diagnostics or install access if you violate these Terms. Provisions that by nature should survive will survive termination.

12. Disclaimers

THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED OR ERROR-FREE, OR THAT SYNC, AI OUTPUT, OR SHARE LINKS WILL BE ACCURATE OR SECURE.

YOU USE DOTNOTE AND YOUR CLOUDFLARE ACCOUNT AT YOUR OWN RISK. WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DATA LOSS, CORRUPTION, OR UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS ARISING FROM YOUR CLOUDFLARE SETTINGS, SHARE LINKS, CREDENTIALS, OR THIRD-PARTY PROVIDERS.

13. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, DATA, OR GOODWILL. OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF THE SOFTWARE IS LIMITED TO THE GREATER OF (A) AMOUNTS YOU PAID US FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR (B) ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100) IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID US.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.

14. Indemnity

You will defend and indemnify us against claims arising from your content, your Cloudflare deployment, share links you create, your use of AI providers, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of applicable law, except to the extent caused by our willful misconduct.

15. Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains how optional diagnostics, the install site, and your deployment relate to your data. It is incorporated by reference into these Terms.

16. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms by posting a revised version on this site and updating the "Last updated" date. Material changes may be noted on the website when appropriate. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
